Pep Rally

Those wonderful things called pep rallies

Pep Rally Spirit

One of the best ways to get your school fired up for a big game is to hold a pep rally. Schools often have some of the biggest wins ever after a pep rally that day. Get the teachers as well as the stundents involved in the festivities.

Great ways to get everyone going:

Sometimes football players or coaches will shave all their hair off or a section of it off to show that they are united. Take part in this tradition and get some football players volunteer to have teachers shave their heads.

Class competitions bring out the rowdiness in every school! Juniors always want to outdue Seniors, Seniors want to out due everybody, and freshmen want to make an impression. Seperate your croud by grade levels and see who can cheer the loudest!! You can play games with them such as relay races, bobbing for apples, water ballon tosses anything to get everyone in the winning spirit!

Pass out signs, poms, banners and such to the crowd to take to the game that night to show support. To make a little money your school can even have a certain club sell them at lunch or in the morning before school.

Give people not involved in sports the chance to shine, by holding contests like, kareoke, limbo, dance, and talent shows. Last year my school even held a glow stick contest and a "Buff Body Pagent" and crowned Mr. & Mrs. Riverview.

Step by step to a Pep Rally that rules:
1) Get the audiences attention
When they are walking in have the hottest new music playing that way everyone is already singing along and having fun. If there is enough money in the budget you could hire a local D.J. or like at my school we actually have a teacher who does it well. Once everyone is seated preform an unexpected opening number with a cheer, dance, tumbling, or even stunts.

2) Get the crowd to laugh
Laughter is a great way to get your message across. Use short funny skits to get the crowd to come to the game. Ex. football players dressed as cheerleaders doing a cheer. Just don't let them try to make fun of you!! Ha ha. (Lots of different skits could be used.)

3) End with something to remember
Be sure to end the Pep Rally with everyone feeling great about winning the game. Have the principal or coach lead the school in a well-liked ending cheer! It would be great if it were a call back!
